How to open a demat account with NSDL ?
Opening a demat account with NSDL involves a few simple steps
Choose an NSDL registered Depository Participant(DP)

Fill the Demat Account Opening Form
You can apply online via the DP’s website or app. And Offline by visiting a branch filling a physical form
You will need to submit:
PAN card (mandatory)
Aadhaar card (for KYC and e verification)
Passport size photo
Canceled cheque or bank statement
Signature (scanned/digital or physical)
Complete KYC Verification
Most DPs now offer e KYC online
Aadhaar OTP verification
Video call or selfie upload
In some cases ,in pert verification may be required
Sign the Agreement and submit Documents
you will sign a Demat account agreement (terms,charges,rights,and duties)
After submission,the DPverifies the documents.
Receive Your Demat Account Details
Once verified, you will receive:
Client ID
Demat Account Number (16 digit)
Login credentials for trading platform
You can now start
Buying/Selling shares
Applying for IPOs
Holding mutual funds in demat form.
Important Notes:
NSDL Demat Account Number start with “IN”. Followed by 14 digits.
Demat charges vary by DP check account opening.AMC ,and transaction charges.
